previous nanos. In addition, they have a brighter display

Mac game
makers disappointed by iPod shut-out
Macworld,
Sept.21, 2006
Many long-time Mac game developers figured it was inevitable
that Apple would one day add premium games to its iPod music
player. But when that day finally came earlier this month,
many of those same game developers were left wishing they
could be a part of it.
Of
the nine games that made their debut with the iTunes Store,
all but two were developed by software makers outside of
Apple. However, none of the games came from the companies
that Mac gamers usually expect to see on Apple hardware.

The
Guardian (UK) Unlimited, Sept. 21, 2006
The gloves are off... almost. After months of waiting, the
first real volleys have been fired in the long-anticipated
digital music war between Apple and Microsoft.
It kicked off
with Apple, as Steve Jobs unveiled revisions to the iPod
range and added some extra features. He finally lifted the
curtain on the heavily-trailed movie download service, offering
American customers downloaded Disney-produced films such
as Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and Cars.
Though there is still no British content a year after TV
shows hit iTunes, the company promised something here in
2007.

myvu Made
for iPod improves video experience
The
Mobile Gadgeteer, Sept. 18, 2006
I have been seriously thinking about picking up an iPod
Video device and was hoping Apple was going to announce
a model with a larger widescreen display a couple weeks
ago, but that didn't happen. However, they did drop the
price of the 30GB model and added a 60GB 80GB model with
some other software updates. The day after Apple's announcements,
Microsoft announced their Zune experience and so now I am
thinking about one of these devices. Then late last night
Beth sent me a note stating that The MicroOptical Corporation
was going to announcing their new myvu Made for iPod Edition
Personal Media Viewer glases today. The details for the
myvu Made for iPod Edition system are now up on their site
with the glasses selling for US$399.

'shunning iTunes store'
BBC
News. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006
Most of the music on an iPod is not from iTunes, reveals
report
Despite the success of Apple iTunes, few people stock their
iPod with tracks from the online store, reports a study.
The Jupiter Research report says that, on average, only
20 of the tracks on an iPod will be from the iTunes shop.
Far more important to iPod owners, said the study, was free
music ripped from CDs someone already owned or acquired
from file-sharing sites.

Touch-screen
iPod in time for Christmas?
Thnk
Secret
September 15, 2006
The much discussed touch-screen iPod that Think Secret has
been bringing you details of since February 2006 may see
the light of day this year, after all.
While the timetable is improbable—and unconfirmed—sources
who have previously disclosed details of the touch-screen
iPod report Apple is committing significant resources to
completing the final spec and that it may, just may, enter
manufacturing by late October, barely in time for the holiday
buying season.
Instead of usurping the just-updated 5G iPod, this new iPod,
boasting a 3.5-inch widescreen display, would be pedaled
as its own product line. Read

What
is an iPod?
According to
Wikipedia, The iPod is a brand of portable media players
designed and marketed by Apple Computer. Apple chose to
focus its development on the iPod's simple user interface,
rather than on technical capability. Devices in the iPod
family are designed around a central scroll wheel except
for the iPod shuffle, until recently, and the full-sized
model stores media on an internal hard drive, while the
smaller iPod nano and iPod shuffle use flash memory. Like
many digital audio players, iPods can also serve as external
data storage devices.
